The Windies’ batting was among the best of the tournament and they scored 254 runs. Brandon King and Shai Hope were unable to capitalize on the powerplay and left the game. Zimbabwe had a fleeting chance of the ball at 54/2. That was short-lived, though, as Shimron Hetmyer put an end to it. The lefty’s power-hitting and timing were spectacular. He hit seven fours and seven sixes off 34 balls. Rovman Powell followed up Shimron Hetmyer with a first-class performance.
The captain also scored 59 runs off 35 balls and kept the pressure on Zimbabwe’s bowlers all day. Hetmyer and Powell’s partnership was defining phase of the innings. West Indies went from a decent position to a match winning position with their stand. Sherfane Rutherford then scored 31 runs off just 13 balls. Romario Shepherd did 21 from 10 balls while Jason Holder hit 13 runs from four deliveries, two of which were sixes. The last over saw West Indies hit many boundaries as they reached the 250-run mark.

Zimbabwe Cricket Team 2nd Innings (Batting Stats)
A target of 255 was always going to be challenging and Zimbabwe’s hopes were dashed from the start. Tadiwanashe Marumani began well, but dropped for 14. Brian Bennett and Ryan Burl soon took the lead, bringing Zimbabwe down to 20/3. Dion Myers came in and played aggresively from the start, registered 28 runs. His aggressive batting brought some momentum to the game for Zimbabwe who ended his innings at the crucial moment with Gudakesh Motie. Captain Sikandar Raza put up a spirited performance, netting 27 runs, two boundaries and two sixes.
But he didn’t have help from the other side. Tony Munyonga added 14 runs, but Motie’s stellar performance got rid of Munyonga and Tashinga Musekiwa in each successive delivery. In the later stages, it was Zimbabwe’s sole saving grace, Brad Evans. The five sixes entertained and the 43 runs from 21 balls were made by him. Unfortunately for Zimbabwe the required rate was already too high. The lower half of the score collapsed and the match ended with the score being 147.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza chose to bowl first after winning the toss. It seemed to be a promising choice when Zimbabwe got rid of Brandon King and Shai Hope in the powerplay.
