Shamar’s Early Life Journey: From Security Guard to Professional Cricketer
As we already discussed, he belongs to a very remote village in the West Indies. Before starting his professional cricket journey, he was formerly working as a security guard which he pursued as a full-time. Along with it he started playing cricket with Tucker Park Cricket Club and then soon caught the attention of the Guyana Harpy Eagles.
They purchased Shamar as an uncapped player in 2022-2023 for the Regional four day tournament. He never played professional for Guyana before,despite this he still got a chance to make his first class debut for Guyana in feb 2023.

Shamar Joseph T20 Journey
The T20 Journey of Shamar Joseph is pretty eventful and has reflected his rise in domestic cricket in the Caribbean to the international stages and as well as for global franchise matches.
Domestic And Franchise T20s:
He started his journey in T20 matches with Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL(Caribbean Premier League) back in 2023. In the league he got a chance to play 10 matches. During these matches he was only able to take 9 wickets at an average rate of 32.33 with the best figure of 3/9.
International Franchise in T20
Then he was signed by LSG(Lucknow Super Giants) in the 2024 IPL. This we are going to discuss further in the blog in detail.

Shamar Joseph IPL Stats (2024 And 2025)
Shamar Joseph was retained by the Lucknow Super Giants for this IPL season of 2025. He was retained as a replacement for player Mark Wood with a contract price of INR 3 crore. But this was not his first season in the IPL, he had already played in IPL Season 2024 for the same.
During this season he only got a chance to play only one match which was against the team of Kolkata Knight Riders. In this challenging match, he lasted for 10 balls and conceded 22 runs with 0 wickets for 47 runs in 4 overs. Following this performance, he was dropped from the playing XI and did not feature in any further matches for the remainder of the 2024 season.
For the IPL Season 2025, as we discussed further that he was retained. But the amount was much lower than the 2024 IPL season. He was only retained for 75 Lakh INR during the mega auction held in november 2024. During this season he did not play any matches for his team.

Rape Allegations On Shamar Joseph
Shamar is currently facing a serious allegation of sexual harassment or misconduct, including rape. This serious issue was brought forward by 11 women and one of them was a teenager during this incident. The central allegation involves a now 19-year-old woman who claims Joseph raped her on March 3, 2023, in New Amsterdam, Guyana, when she was 18. As per the report suggests he tried to bribe one of his victims in order to settle the matter but her family refused it and demanded justice. As of now, no formal charges have been filed, and investigations are ongoing
Conclusion
Although his journey was not filled with big achievements, he is definitely going to be a better player. Only if he gets better opportunities in the coming future. But he is currently facing some serious allegations on himself which we already mentioned in the above part of the blog. There are chances that he may get expelled from cricket.
