Match Summary
UP Warriorz (W) amassed an impressive 225 runs for the loss of 5 wickets during their allotted 20 overs. Building on the innings were two half centuries, one from Georgia Voll (99*) & the other from Kiran Navgire (46 off 16 balls). Early on, Grace Harris was impressive with a blitz of 39 from 22 balls and support was offered by both Chinelle Henry and Sophie Ecclestone. Throughout the innings, UPW maintained a high run rate, taking advantage of anything short and wide from RCB’s bowling. RCB’s Georgia Wareham did manage 2 wickets, but the rest of the bowling unit struggled against an aggressive batting lineup that was taking advantage of the flat batting pitch.
In reply, next up was RCB (W) who scored positively with the initial effort coming from Sabbhineni Meghana who suggested hope for a successful chase with her tally of 27, and a nice flourish at the end by Sneh Rana with outlandish stroke play of 26 from 6 balls. Richa Ghosh smashed a quickfire 69 from 33 balls to lay some further claim for the RCB Win, but wickets fell at intervals that foiled RCB’s chase. Considering the run rate, with impetus from Sophie Ecclestone (3/25) and Deepti Sharma (3/50), who were supported by UPW’s superior bowling unit, were instrumental in tipping the momentum to favour UPW. RCB finished their innings with a respectable total of 213 runs in a high scoring game and ultimately fell short by 12 runs.
UP Warriorz’s performance demonstrated not only a strong top-order batting unit but also a decent level of control with their bowling group in the moments when the game required it.
