Domestic Career
Padikkal was already pretty invested in cricket from a young age, and thus he made his first-class debut for Karnataka back in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, and this was a turning point for his cricket career.
Having gained market traction and fame, Devdutt soon made his List A debut on 26th September 2019—another important date for his career—and managed to play in the 2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the game, he was leading as run scorer with 609 runs in 11 matches, which was quite impressive.
In October 2019, he was proudly named to India’s A Squad for the 2019 Deodhar Trophy.
By this time, he was already named in India’s D squad for the 2024 Duleep Trophy—and by this time, everyone in the cricket industry and beyond already knew his name.
International Career
It seemed like Padikkal’s fame was nowhere near over, and in June 2021, he was officially named in India’s ODI and Twenty20 International squads as they made a series against Sri Lanka.
A few years later, in 2024, he was added to India’s Test squad series against England, but do note that this was as a replacement for KL Rahul. Fortunately, he managed to make his debut in the 5th match on 7th March. He ultimately scored 65 runs off 103 balls.

- In December 2018, by a twist of fate, he was acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore to play his debut match for the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL).
- Interestingly, he went on to win the title for being the first player in IPL history to score 3 fifties in his first four matches!
